Project Description: Forming part of project ‘A City Less Grey’ and Leeds City Council’s Town and District Centre Scheme, the “Latent Power” sculpture is situated in the grounds of the Kirkstall Leisure Centre in Leeds and pays homage to the local heritage and industrial landscape.

Project Team: Leeds born artist Rebecca Appleby was delighted to be appointed for this commission following a community event and other consultation work in the area. Her work ranges from sculpture to ceramics, collages and experimental landscapes and presents an ongoing examination of the ever-present cohabitation and conflict between industry and nature. A City Less Grey is an East Street Arts project, with two main strands funded by LeedsBID and Leeds City Council. A City Less Grey includes a host of city centre artworks and community commissions.

Construction Overview: Goodson Associates were delighted to work along side the artist and project team in providing a supportive role into the feasibility and detailed design of this steel sculpture, its support structure and foundations.
